MTA Bridges and Tunnels is an integral part of New York City’s regional transportation network with E-ZPass moving a million customers per day on its 7 bridges and 2 tunnels. We have an excellent employment opportunity for an ITS Application Specialist.
The Application Specialist will be responsible for directing the engineering, design and acquisition of electronic traffic systems using Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) technologies. Determine and specify the technical requirements for advanced ITS systems, develop test plans/protocols to assure high-level performance; select systems and contractors that will provide a quality high performance system capable of meeting the specifications will also be required. Manage installation, testing and implementation of the ITS systems. Provide technical support and services for the traffic management systems. Maintain proficiency in ITS Technologies such as Electronic Toll Collection, Incident Detection Systems Traffic Operations Centers, and CCTV system, Weather Recoding system, Variable Message Signs (VMS).
Technical undergraduate degree in Engineering with 4 years experience or a master's degree in computer science and 3 years of responsible, full time experience in mainframe, mini or micro-computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration. Previous experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems is highly desirable. Strong background in various aspects of ITS technologies, including "hands-on" knowledge of the installation of field hardware equipment
