Rodriguez’s election as President of IBTTA took place during the association’s 82nd Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Austin, Texas that brought together nearly 1,000 transportation leaders from more than 20 countries to discuss innovative practices, policies, technologies, funding options and business models transforming mobility for drivers worldwide.

“I am honored to be elected president of IBTTA. I look forward to working with our members during this critical time for infrastructure investment. Our economy and every day mobility depends on the quality of our highways, bridges and tunnels. The tolling industry is on the move and providing solutions to address congestion, mobility, interoperability, reconstruction of highways and more,” said Javier Rodriguez, Executive Director, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, and 2015 IBTTA President.

The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) is the worldwide association for the owners and operators of toll facilities and the businesses that serve them. Founded in 1932, IBTTA has members in more than 20 countries and on six continents. Through advocacy, thought leadership and education, members are implementing state-of-the-art, innovative user-based transportation financing solutions to address the critical infrastructure challenges of the 21st century.

“We are incredibly excited for IBTTA’s leadership under Javier Rodriguez in 2015,” said Patrick D. Jones, Executive Director and CEO of IBTTA.  “As the executive director of the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, Javier has been instrumental in growing the operation and financing of some of the busiest, most critical East-West roadways in the country.  He brings a unique level of experience and expertise to our association and industry that is unparalleled in the world of transportation and tolling. We look forward to growing our voice in the transportation funding debate in 2015 under the leadership of Javier.”

Jones concluded, “The tolling industry is on the cutting-edge of funding transportation infrastructure around the globe. As the congressional surface transportation patch is set to expire in May 2015, Congress once again addresses a need for a long-term Transportation Reauthorization bill and tolling is increasingly being utilized by states and localities, our new leadership team comes on board at a critical juncture for the industry.  Tolling and user-financed based transportation funding continues to be a proven, safe and reliable option to support infrastructure development.”

In 2013, IBTTA launched Moving America Forward, a public awareness campaign that highlights the benefits of tolling to elected officials, policymakers, the media, and the general public.
