Christopher Tomlinson, Executive Director, Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and State Road and Tollway Authority, Elected Second Vice President of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association

WASHINGTON, DC – More than 700 global transportation leaders from 22 countries gathered for the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association's (IBTTA) 84th Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Denver, Colorado, September 11-14, 2016.

On September 14, Chris Tomlinson, Executive Director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and State Road and Tollway Authority was elected by the IBTTA membership to serve as Second Vice President of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA). Tomlinson’s term begins January 1, 2017. In 2019, Tomlinson will serve as IBTTA President.

“IBTTA is pleased that Chris Tomlinson, Executive Director, of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and State Road and Tollway Authority will bring his leadership and vision to our association and industry,” said Patrick Jones, Executive Director and CEO of IBTTA. “Chris’s transportation, transit and legal experience will be a tremendous asset to our Board at this critical time when we address major infrastructure needs.”

As the head of two state transportation authorities, Tomlinson provides executive leadership and strategic guidance for major initiatives in tolling, transit, and transportation financing as well as creative financing for major mobility projects throughout the Atlanta Metro area.

Upon his election as Second Vice President, Tomlinson said, “I am thrilled and honored that my fellow members of IBTTA have entrusted me with this leadership position.  My involvement as a member of the Board of Directors for IBTTA has allowed me to engage with members around the world and use my experience to address the many challenges and opportunities facing the industry.”

The State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) is the transportation infrastructure financing arm of the State of Georgia. SRTA is committed to enhancing mobility for Georgians by providing innovative transportation and financing options. Through the Authority, Georgia currently collects tolls on a 16-mile stretch of Express Lanes on Interstate 85 in the Gwinnett and Dekalb Counties of Metropolitan Atlanta.
