About Be Safe Together

IBTTA’s Be Safe Together campaign is a global movement driven by the tolling industry and powered by everyday heroes—those who design, build, operate, maintain, and drive our roads. It highlights the shared responsibility of everyone on and off the road to protect lives and ensure safer journeys for all. IBTTA's 2025 theme, Be the Highway Hero, celebrates the vital role each of us plays in road safety—whether behind the wheel, on the worksite, or making decisions that shape transportation systems. From engineers and toll operators to road workers and drivers, the campaign honors the collective effort it takes to create a safer, more connected world. The campaign is championed by IBTTA member agencies and global allies, and features coordinated media outreach, social media activations, thought leadership, live programming, and direct messaging to drivers at tolling facilities, rest areas, and online platforms.

IBTTA's Commitment to Safety

IBTTA is deeply committed to promoting safety across all facets of the tolling industry. By fostering collaboration among members and stakeholders, IBTTA promotes the development and implementation of innovative safety practices, technologies, and policies.

IBTTA supports initiatives that enhance the safety of infrastructure, workers, and the traveling public—recognizing that a secure transportation network is essential to the well-being of communities worldwide.

Launched in 2024 under the leadership of Past President Bill Halkias, IBTTA’s Global Road Safety Week has become a signature initiative, spotlighting the tolling industry’s vital role in protecting lives. Through education, advocacy, and shared expertise, IBTTA continues to elevate safety as a core value across the industry.
