Roadway Safety Steering Committee
The Roadway Safety Steering Committee oversees IBTTA’s Road Safety Initiative which established a “Global Road Safety Week” in 2024, in line with UN’s Global Traffic Safety Week. The annual initiative will highlight the positive safety efforts undertaken by those in the tolling industry and safety communications campaigns of other transportation partner organizations around the globe.
IBTTA members are invited to contribute to the Road Safety Committee’s distracted driving case study initiative. Explore how you can contribute.

BeSafeTogether.org is IBTTA’s global platform for sharing road safety action, insights, and stories. The site connects the transportation and tolling industry and global partners to advance a shared commitment to safer roads. Discover practical resources, industry best practices, and emerging solutions addressing today’s most pressing safety challenges—from distracted driving to worker protection and crash prevention.

Dear IBTTA Members,
The IBTTA Road Safety Committee is committed to creating actionable resources that help our industry save lives. As part of this commitment, our Best Practices track is developing a series of in-depth case studies focused on one of the most critical issues on our roadways today: distracted driving.
Our goal is to produce a set of comprehensive, real-world guides that showcase proven strategies and innovative solutions from across the tolling industry. To achieve this, we are turning to you, the experts and leaders within the IBTTA community, for your valuable insights and examples.
We have finalized six key case study topics and are now in the process of gathering content. We invite you to contribute your knowledge, data, and lessons learned to help us build out these important resources.
Final Case Study Topics
- Applying Behavioral Science to Understand & Combat Distracted Driving
- Leveraging Technology & AI to Combat Distracted Driving
- Infrastructure & Engineering Solutions to Mitigate Distracted Driving Risks
- Rapid Incident Response for Crashes Caused by Distracted Driving
- Enforcement Strategies That Reduce Distracted Driving
