International Tolling Association Elects Samuel Johnson of the Transportation Corridor Agencies, as 2020 IBTTA President

WASHINGTON, DC –  The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) has announced that Samuel Johnson, Chief Toll Operations Officer for the Transportation Corridor Agencies in Irvine, California will serve as the association’s 2020 President. 

 

Johnson was elected President by the membership during IBTTA’s 87th Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Nova Scotia, Canada, this past September. The meeting brought together more than 800 transportation leaders from 23 countries to discuss innovative technologies, policies, funding options and business practices to provide greater mobility for drivers.

 

“IBTTA is pleased that Samuel Johnson, Chief Toll Operations Officer with the Transportation Corridor Agencies will serve as our president this year. Samuel will bring his bold leadership and vision to our association and industry,” said Patrick D. Jones, Executive Director and CEO of IBTTA. “Around the world, tolling is providing greater mobility options for millions of customers. Samuel’s service begins at a critical time when communities and nations worldwide are looking at new ways to fund and finance vital transportation infrastructure.”

As Chief Toll Operations Officer with TCA, Johnson is in charge of strategic planning and daily operations for revenue collection and enforcement; systems development and maintenance; and customer service for the Agencies' 51-mile network of tolled facilities with 300,000 daily customers.

The Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) is comprised of two joint powers authorities -- San Joaquin Hills and Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agencies -- was created to plan, finance, construct and operate Orange County, California’s Toll Road network comprised of State Routes 73, 133, 241 and 261.  The Toll Roads, with $335 million in annual revenue, have been providing a choice for drivers for more than 20 years.  The tolls collected are used to fund debt service issued to construct the 51-mile toll road system, operations and capital projects.
