IBTTA Book Club Group Discussion

“You have to get over the fear of facing the worst in yourself. You should instead fear unexamined racism. Fear the thought that right now, you could be contributing to the oppression of others and you don’t know it….Do not fear the opportunity to do better.”

- Ijeoma Oluo

About the Book Club

The Task Force on Diversity, Social and Racial Inclusion created the IBTTA Book Club in late 2020 to help educate IBTTA members and the tolling community on how racism is a part of our identity and to find ways to move through the process of expanding our knowledge to remove racism from our mindset.

The Task Force Says

We want you to feel safe in being uncomfortable. The Task Force maintains adherence to a “safe space” policy where members can trust that comments and feelings brought up in the book club will not be attacked by any other member. The book club events will take place in a “no judgment zone” where no ad hominems are allowed. Discussions are to be kept confidential to encourage a willingness to participate. The group discussions will NOT be recorded.
